When we started the Impact-Cando Connection Fund back in 2008, and kicked off our first golf tournament, we never imagined that we would be planning to host the 13th Annual Impact-Cando Connection Fund Golf Tournament on July 18, 2020 at the Cando Golf Course in Cando. Then the Novel Coronavirus - COVID-19 - Pandemic reached the shores of America in January, 2020, and most of our world, including events which gathered not only large, but relatively small groups of the general public, even family gatherings, came to a screeching halt. We all took our responsibilities of “flattening the curve” of the reach of this deadly virus seriously. The results - North Dakota has fared relatively well - with a few of the largest counties carrying the majority of cases, and unfortunately, deaths from COVID-19. And one, of a few bright shining stars in North Dakota, has been the Cando/Towner County area with ZERO - yes “0” cases/deaths.
The Impact-Cando Connection Fund Advisory Board members waited for a very long time to thoughtfully consider the potential ramifications of going forward with our July 18, 2020 golf tournament, in the face of this deadly pandemic. We decided we could not responsibly take the risk of gathering a group of people from across our state, and even a few from out of state, to participate in our tournament at the Cando Golf Course, with the thought that our event might spark a COVID-19 outbreak in a county that had ZERO cases.
After conversations with several people who had participated in our previous golf tournaments about the cancellation of our event, the question was raised whether we should give an opportunity for past participants, and others with a Cando Connection, to make a donation to help sustain the services and programming of the qualified charitable organizations in the Cando/Towner County area. And the resounding response was “Yes!” They realized the charitable organizations serving that area were still going to need the grant monies for their organizations, especially this year.
We also realize that businesses, families, and individuals have each been impacted differently by this COVID-19 Pandemic, and we want to respectfully recognize that fact. With all of this information in mind, this is your invitation to participate as a donor for the Impact-Cando Connection Fund’s Caring Campaign, in place of our annual golf tournament this year. Should you wish to become a donor, please open the pdf form below, print, and complete the donation form and return it with your check made payable to the Impact-Cando Connection Fund, and mail them to the following address: Attn: Cindy Eggl, Advisory Board Member, Impact-Cando Connection Fund, 2701 12th Street South, #14, Fargo, ND 58103.
From the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you for your continued support of our Fund, and more importantly, your support of the Cando/Towner County charitable organizations that provide services and programs that enrich the lives of all who call the area home!
